Community Grants Program

In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven. Matthew 5:16

Grant Application and Guidelines

Following the example of Jesus Christ, Emmanuel Baptist Church (EBC) seeks to make a tangible difference in communities beyond its four walls. Applying the biblical principle of the tithe to itself, EBC allocates 10 percent of each Sunday’s collection to support worthy causes in the United States and abroad. These funds are distributed through the Missions and Benevolence Fund. Missions grants finance missions and the support services of churches and affiliated organizations that advance the goal of connecting people with Christ.

Benevolence grants support nonprofit organizations that provide immediate care to alleviate the suffering of children, families, and individuals, and address underlying disparities in economic opportunity, health care, education, housing, and other indicators of community well-being. In 2008, special consideration will be given to organizations that serve the Brooklyn area, and New York-based grantees that address the following priority areas: financial literacy, health and physical fitness, emotional and mental health, and healthy relationships and families.

To apply for a grant, please follow the instructions below:
Missions Grants - Please submit an initial inquiry letter describing the history of your congregation or organization, the community or population you currently serve, the initiative that you are seeking to support, how the requested grant will help advance the cause of Christ, and who will provide leadership for the effort. Please provide two or three typed pages.

Benevolence Grants for Nonprofits – Please click here to download the application guidelines.

If you have questions about the guidelines or your organization’s eligibility to submit a proposal, please email us at benevolence@ebc-ny.org.    A written acknowledgement of your proposal will occur within several weeks of receipt.

The actual grant award, if approved, may occur at any time during the fiscal year in which it is submitted.
